KnightN — Privacy Policy

KnightN (sole proprietor, Vadodara, Gujarat, India) ("we", "us") operates the KnightN chess-coaching mobile app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your rights. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and app-store requirements.

Information we collect

• Account: email address, username, and profile photo — provided by you or via Google / Apple sign-in (through Firebase Authentication).
• Gameplay: games you play, moves, results, ratings (ELO), XP, streaks, puzzle and lesson progress, and move-quality analysis.
• Age band: to protect children, we ask your age/birth year (see "Children" below).
• Technical: basic device and diagnostic data needed to run the service.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

How we use it

• Provide the app: sign-in, saving your games and progress, coaching and analysis.
• Compute stats, ratings and AI feedback on your play.
• Maintain safety, prevent abuse, and comply with law.

Service providers

We share data only with providers who process it on our behalf:

• Google Firebase — authentication.
• Groq — AI move comments and weakness reports (chess positions/moves, not your identity).
• Render (hosting) and Neon (database) — to run and store the service.

Children

KnightN has a kids-friendly mode. We ask for age at onboarding. Users under 13 require verifiable parental consent, captured via a parent account link. We collect only what is needed to run the app and do not target children with advertising. Parents may review or delete a child's data by contacting us.

Your rights

• Access & correction of your data.
• Deletion: delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app (Profile → Delete Account), or by emailing us (see account deletion).

Data retention & security

We keep your data while your account is active and delete it when you delete your account. Data is transmitted over HTTPS and access is restricted. No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date will change and material changes will be notified in-app.
